Hearst Decleared Data Units
Guaranteed you have seen a Declared Data Unit on social media but never knew the actual name of it! These are swipe up videos that move into a short quiz either pairing you with a product, informing you of a topic, or driving to the brand’s site. They can live on a Hearst brand’s social media story/page (such as Cosmo, Esquire, Good Housekeeping, etc…), or they can stand alone interspersing your friends’ stories. They are a fun, quick and an easy way to get brand recognition and engagement.
These DDUs are always a blast to work on, as I get to represent an assortment of diverse brands within this ad unit. I start by reading the copy handed to me from our copywriter and examine the assets sent from the client. I pop over to the brand’s website and check their guidelines to see of any elements, colors, and fonts that are used normally. From there I start laying out where everything looks right while keeping in mind the goal of this DDU – be it email capture, website click through rates, or engagement in general. Once everything is to my liking, I check it over with our copywriter and client, then send it off to our partner, Jebbit, who makes them come alive!
